Little did I know that by sharing my specially designed cereal with my lady friends at the YMCA my little cereal company would grace the shelves at Planet Organic, Sobeys and many other retail outlets.
In 2004 I realized the processed cereals just did not work for me. My journey towards better lifestyle choices led me to discover the benefits of fibre and organic whole grains. I wanted an organic whole grain cereal which could be eaten in a variety of ways, and most of all easy to prepare.
I hand picked the grains I wanted to see at the Strathcona Planet Organic market. The ladies at the Y became my taste testers. Once I came up with a ‘no flour’ muffin recipe my cereal company took off. Soon I was mixing cereal batches in large containers in my kitchen, packaging them in brown kraft bags and selling a dozen at a time.
My vision seeing Omega Grains on the store shelves is now a reality.
Simple honest pleasures are the most rewarding. Whole grains in their natural state are tasty, delicious and nutritious. Life is too short to settle for second best and that is reflected in the grains we choose.
The love of healthy food choices, country living and sharing recipes is the driving force behind the little cereal company, Omega Grains. Active lives are part of today’s lifestyle and Omega Grains is delicious and easy to prepare eaten hot or cold, throughout the day as a breakfast cereal, muffin or as a topping on yogurt for a snack.
My favorite times are spent with family, coming up with new recipes, marveling at the Northern Lights which light up a winter’s night, enjoying the comfort of friends and sharing stories around a bonfire.
I owe my success to the women at the William Lutsky YMCA and Chris Merriott of Merriott Fitness who still purchase Omega Grains cereal and keep encouraging me.
I encourage you to mindfully enjoy each grain in Omega Grains and give thanks to all the people who have grown organic grains in our country.
Thank you, enjoy Omega Grains every day.
